Meditation and relaxation class using AT principles

Many people want to learn to meditate, but find the whole process so physically uncomfortable that they give up, especially if they are expected to meditate for long periods as beginners.

This unique one-hour class aims to reduce stress and leave you feeling calm and refreshed.

The first half comprises a short period of meditation (25 minutes) starting with a body scan using AT principles to encourage muscles to lengthen and release and joints to open. We will alternate two meditation practices: one focusing on the breath; the other focusing on the development of positive thoughts.

The second half involves guided 'lying down' work: you will lie in the very comfortable 'semi-supine' position while the teacher guides you through a 'top-to-toe' thinking process that encourages your spine to lengthen, the disks between your vertebrae to rehydrate, your muscles to lengthen and release and your joints to open. Afterwards, you should feel freer and lighter - the class will give you a 'boost' to help you through the rest of the day.

You can improve your well-being by practising both activities at home between the sessions.

The class is offered as a course of 6 sessions and costs £42 per person the whole course (payable in advance). It is designed for a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 6 and is suitable for people of any age and level of fitness. At present, these courses are held in Ipswich only.
